Job summary

Evolving Solution Services is seeking a Driver to support both delivery and production operations. On non-delivery days, you will assist production departments with assembly, material handling, packaging, housekeeping, and other duties.

When deliveries are scheduled, you will transport materials, verify delivery documentation, and follow all safety and vehicle policies. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver license, and related experience.

Driver

Salary: $20.00 Annually

SUMMARY:

The Driver supports both delivery and production operations. This position may not have driving or delivery assignments every day. On days when no deliveries are scheduled, the employee will serve as a Production Floater and assist assigned production departments with assembly, material handling, packaging, housekeeping, and other duties as directed. When deliveries are scheduled, the employee will safely transport materials and company items, verify delivery documentation, and follow all company vehicle and safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DRIVING AND DELIVERY

• Safely operate assigned company vehicles on daily delivery and pickup routes, generally traveling approximately 5 to 100 miles per day based on business needs.
• Pick up and deliver materials, supplies, signs, furniture, and other items to vendors, company locations, job sites, and designated departments accurately and on schedule.
• Plan and follow assigned routes, communicate delays or delivery issues promptly, and obtain required delivery confirmations, signatures, or other documentation.
• Represent the company professionally and communicate respectfully with vendors, customers, employees, and job-site contacts.
• Compare packing slips, purchase orders, quantities, and delivered items for accuracy before accepting or distributing materials.
• Do not accept items that cannot be matched to an authorized purchase order unless directed by the supervisor or Purchasing.
• Inspect deliveries for visible shortage, damage, or discrepancy and promptly notify the supervisor or Purchasing before materials are released.
• Return completed packing slips, purchase orders, receipts, and other delivery documentation to Accounts Payable or Purchasing promptly.
• Review assigned purchase orders for overdue or back-ordered items and communicate status concerns to the Purchasing Agent.
• Safely load, secure, unload, lift, carry, and position materials and company property, including items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and items that may require movement on stairs.
• Use carts, dollies, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment only when trained and authorized, and request team assistance for heavy, oversized, or awkward loads.
• Protect transported items from shifting, damage, weather, or loss and deliver them to the correct department or designated location.
• Serve as backup support to Purchasing and Subcontracting as assigned.
• Assist the Sewing Department as needed, including grommeting, moving fabric bolts, and packaging flags.

VEHICLE SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report damage, defects, maintenance concerns, or unsafe operating conditions.
• Comply with traffic laws, parking and loading requirements, company vehicle policies, seat-belt requirements, and restrictions on distracted or unsafe driving.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, organization, fuel levels, and required inspection, mileage, fuel, and maintenance records.
• Properly secure all materials, tools, and equipment before operating the vehicle and verify that loads remain within the vehicle’s rated capacity.
• Immediately report accidents, citations, injuries, property damage, cargo loss, or other driving incidents in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain all licenses, medical certifications, driving qualifications, and training required for the assigned vehicle and promptly report any change that may affect driving eligibility.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality and follow established schedules and break periods to support delivery and production requirements.
• Attend company and department meetings, uphold company core values, and maintain professional conduct.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least three months of related delivery, driving, warehouse, material-handling, or production-support experience required.
• Valid driver license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and a driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.
• Ability to maintain any medical certification, vehicle-specific qualification, or other documentation required by applicable law or company policy.
• Knowledge of safe driving, loading, cargo securement, delivery, and material-handling practices.
• Ability to read and verify purchase orders, packing slips, delivery instructions, addresses, quantities, and related documentation.
• Ability to safely operate carts, dollies, and other assigned material-handling equipment; forklift experience or the ability to complete company-provided training preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to plan routes, prioritize deliveries, and meet scheduled deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify shortages, damage, incorrect items, and documentation discrepancies.
• Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, customers, employees, and other business contacts.
• Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal instructions, and exercise sound judgment when responding to delivery or vehicle issues.
• Ability to use email and basic Microsoft Office applications and complete required electronic or paper records.
• Demonstrates reliable attendance and accurately records work time in accordance with company policy.
• Regular on-site attendance and availability to travel locally during scheduled work hours are required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret delivery instructions, purchase orders, packing slips, maps, safety information, vehicle documentation, and company procedures. Ability to complete routine records and communicate effectively with employees, vendors, customers, and other business contacts.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform calculations involving quantities, weights, distances, mileage, fuel, and basic measurements and to verify delivery and purchase-order information accurately.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, plan and adjust routes, identify delivery or documentation discrepancies, respond appropriately to changing road or job-site conditions, and recognize when an issue must be escalated.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver license appropriate for the assigned vehicle required. Must remain insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance program. Forklift certification preferred or the ability to complete company-provided training. A current medical certificate or other driving qualification may be required depending on the assigned vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS -The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Regularly sits for extended periods while driving and frequently enters and exits company vehicles.
• Frequently stands, walks, bends, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, pushes, pulls, climbs stairs, and works in varied body positions while loading and making deliveries.
• Frequently uses hands and fingers to handle materials, operate vehicle controls, complete documentation, and use assigned tools or material-handling equipment.
• Regularly lifts, carries, positions, or moves items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, frequently up to 60 pounds, and occasionally up to 65 pounds; team lifting or mechanical assistance is required for heavier or awkward items.
• Must have sufficient vision, hearing, depth perception, peripheral awareness, and ability to adjust focus to safely operate a vehicle and perform delivery and material-handling duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in company vehicles and regularly works in production, warehouse, vendor, customer, job-site, loading, and outdoor environments.

• Regular exposure to traffic, changing weather and temperatures, noise, vibration, moving equipment, loading areas, uneven surfaces, and other conditions associated with driving and deliveries may occur.
• Required to follow all company and site-specific safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when entering designated areas.
• Work schedules, routes, and delivery priorities may change based on production and business needs.
• Regular on-site attendance and local travel during scheduled work hours are required to perform the essential functions of this position.
