The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other designated locations. This role requires a strong commitment to student safety, punctuality, and professionalism, along with a proven ability to manage and operate a school bus in various weather and traffic conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safe Transportation:
  • Operate the school bus safely, following established routes and adhering to schedules.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation by enforcing bus rules and monitoring behavior.
  • Follow all traffic laws and school district policies to maintain a secure environment on board.
• Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance:
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to verify it is in proper working order.
  • Report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents to maintenance staff or school administrators immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment.
• Record Keeping & Communication:
  • Keep accurate records of routes, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that occur during trips.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and emergency personnel as needed.
  • Provide timely updates on any delays, changes, or concerns regarding bus operations.
• Student Interaction & Support:
  • Assist students during boarding and disembarking, ensuring a smooth and safe process.
  • Foster a respectful and friendly atmosphere on the bus to support a positive school experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Passenger endorsement or appropriate state-specific school bus driver license.
• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Previous experience driving a bus or transporting children is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and safety inspection protocols.

Posted Salary Range

USD $19.00 - USD $19.00 /Hr.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
• Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
• Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotionally demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being
