Job summary

VIP Community Services is seeking a Driver to operate agency vehicles for transportation to shelters and treatment services. Under the direction of the FTS Operations Manager, you will ensure safe, prompt vehicle operation and compliance with agency policies.

Responsibilities include escorting staff/clients, delivering documents, maintaining vehicle inspections, and coordinating a weekly schedule across Shelter sites.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Clean driving record at time of hire and during employment.
  • Knowledge of New York City area, especially Bronx and Queens.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Experience in a substance treatment/health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate agency vehicle to escort staff and clients to treatment destinations.
  • Transport, pick up and deliver documents/materials as scheduled.
  • Maintain a weekly driving schedule for Shelter sites.
  • Perform Pre/Post trip vehicle inspections and report findings.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections for safety and maintenance.
  • Complete daily/weekly vehicle inspection reports.
  • Resolve operational, safety, or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Maintain good relationships with staff and clients across departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities, Transportation, Security, or the FTS Operations Manager.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the FTS Operations Manager, conducts safe, prompt and professional operation of the agency vehicle to ensure transportation services to individuals in the shelters and other departments accordance with agency policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Operate agency vehicle to escort staff and clients to assigned destination for treatment services.
  • Transport, pick up and deliver documents and materials to indicated or scheduled designations.
  • Maintain a weekly schedule of driving assignments for Shelter sites.
  • Must perform Pre/Post trip vehicle inspections and report findings to FTS Operations Manager.
  • Conduct daily inspections for vehicle operation, safety and maintenance.
  • Complete daily and weekly vehicle inspection reports.
  • Be prompt to resolve any potential operational, safety or maintenance problems with the vehicle.
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff and clients in all departments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities, Transportation, Security, or the FTS Operations Manager or the Director of Shelter.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Clean driving record at time of hire and all times during employment.
  • Ability to interact with patients of diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
  • Excellent and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the New York City area, especially the Bronx and Queens boroughs.
  • Prior experience in a substance treatment/health setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must possess sight, hearing and digital senses or prosthetics that will enable the essential functions of the job to be completed.
  • Works in inclement weather. Temperature extremes of 10° - 100°.
  • Must lift maximum 60 lbs.
  • Works at multiple sites, inside and out.
  • Operates motor vehicle.
