Job summary

The Shyft Group USA, Inc is seeking a Chassis Driver & Lot Attendant to manage incoming chassis and outgoing finished goods on the KC campuses. You will oversee transport readiness, assist with vehicle placement, and ensure the lot remains organized and compliant with safety standards.

Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and 2+ years' trucking experience. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, a clean driving record, and the ability to work independently with

Qualifications

  • 2+ years proven experience in truck driving preferred.
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.
  • Map reading and route planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive chassis.
  • Prepares units for transport with chassis and body modifications as needed to accommodate for transport and drive-away.
  • Works within all safety guidelines to ensure an efficient and safe transfer process.
  • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip.
  • Notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
  • Attending and participating in training and meetings.
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean and presentable.
  • Ensuring the lot is organized, clean, and free from trash, litter, and debris.
  • Arranging and parking vehicles in designated lot areas.
  • Guaranteeing dealership license plate frames are affixed to vehicles.
  • Checking new vehicles are displaying factory and addendum stickers and selling price.
  • Overseeing and maintaining keys.
  • Replacing sold vehicles and empty spaces with new inventory, and ensuring most marketable vehicles are put on display first.
  • Informing supervisor of issues as they arise.
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to company rules and regulations
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions
  • Always make safety a priority
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.

What you’ll do:

SUMMARY:

Chassis Driver & Lot Attendant is the contact for all incoming chassis and outgoing finished goods to customers and / or transportation companies. In this role, Chassis Driver & Lot Attendant will oversee the processes associated with the movement of chassis and finished goods while inbound, on the KC campuses, and outbound from the KC campuses.

What you need to be successful:

  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts
  • Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • Map reading and route planning experience
  • An innate sense of direction
  • Self-starter who works well independently
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • High level of composure and good stress management
