Job summary

The Aebi Schmidt Group is seeking a Night shift Fabrication Supervisor to organize, coordinate, and supervise fabrication operations. You will lead a team to meet safety, quality and production standards, assign workloads, monitor schedules, and drive ongoing process improvements on the night shift.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s in an engineering field or equivalent experience, 5+ years of supervisory manufacturing experience, and strong communication and safety skills to develop personnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, production management, mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with MS Office and email usage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand software and transactions for fabrication/welding operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise diverse work groups in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage time, exercise initiative, and apply safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment listed in the qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, coordinates, and supervises employees and activities in the Fabrication department on Night shift.
  • Assigns work and monitors schedules to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Responds to schedules and product flow to maintain efficient operations.
  • Recommends improvements to production processes to boost efficiency.
  • Ensures procedures comply with quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Provides training, guidance, and feedback to night shift personnel.
  • Evaluates performance and administers coaching and actions as needed.
  • Sets night-shift fabrication goals and outlines steps to achieve them.
  • Oversees overtime and ensures safe, cost-effective operations.

What you’ll do:

Position Summary: Organizes, coordinates, and supervises employees and activities within the Fabrication department on Night shift, to ensure an effective and efficient operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assigns work to Night shift Fabrication personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.
  • Readily perceives and effectively responds to schedules and product flow essential to supervising highly productive, cost-effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.
  • Monitors and controls procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes, to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components.
  • Monitors and controls established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Facilitates and promotes company policy.
  • Provides training, support, direction, and guidance to Night shift Fabrication personnel to continually develop their work habits, job skills and safety practices.
  • Evaluates employee performance and accountability.
  • Provides objective feedback for continued employee growth.
  • Recommend and/or administer personnel actions and coaching, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Set night-shift Fabrication goals and develop outline for achievement.
  • May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions.
  • To work overtime as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you need to be successful:
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, production management, mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Computer literate with experience using e-mail and word processing applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and understand software and complete transactions pertaining to fabrication or welding operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise diverse work groups in a team environment using effective listening, coaching, training, investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and effective time management in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment such as Fiber Lasers, Press Brakes, Various Saws, CNC Machines, and Welders required.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
