Job summary

Norfolk Iron & Metal Company is seeking an experienced OTR driver to safely operate company-owned tractor-trailers in full DOT compliance, deliver steel products on assigned routes, and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to maintain safe operating conditions.

You will complete DVIRs, assist with loading and unloading, provide courteous customer service during pickups and deliveries, keep the vehicle clean, report mechanical or safety issues, and follow all company policies and

• Class A CDL and DOT compliance required.
• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Job Description

• Safely operate company-owned tractor-trailers in compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
• Deliver steel products according to assigned routes and schedules while maximizing efficiency and maintaining on-time performance.
• Perform required DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers to ensure safe operating conditions.
• Accurately complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) and all required driving documentation.
• Assist with the safe loading, securing, and unloading of steel products.
• Provide courteous, professional customer service during pickups and deliveries while representing Norfolk Iron & Metal in a positive manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and promptly report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or equipment deficiencies.
• Comply with all company policies, DOT regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local transportation laws.

Required

• Class A CDL: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Applicants must also possess a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) and meet all Norfolk Iron & Metal and Department of Transportation (DOT) employment qualifications.
