Job summary

Hillcrest Healthcare is seeking a dedicated transporter to move residents to and from appointments, admissions, and discharge areas. The role emphasizes safe driving, proper securing of residents, and maintaining vehicle readiness.

You will support non-emergent care during transport, uphold confidentiality, and ensure a respectful, comfortable experience for residents and families. A caring attitude toward elderly and disabled individuals is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid TN driver's license with clean driving record.
• TDOT Physical.
• Class F Endorsement Driver's License.
• Prior driving and transport experience preferred.
• Organized and detailed work performance.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Good communication with patience and empathy.
• Genuine caring for elderly and disabled in a nursing facility.
• Comply with Residents' Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
• Perform tasks within physical demand requirements.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents to and from appointments, admissions, or home after discharge.
• Understand vehicle operation and safety.
• Transfer resident to and from vehicle for appointments.
• Secure residents in the vehicle (lift system, wheelchair lock, safety belts).
• Assist residents with non-emergent care during transport.
• Maintain a safe driving record.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of vehicles.
• Maintain fleet documents as needed.
• Fuel van as needed.
• Attend in-service education programs to meet facility requirements.
• Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill & Evacuation Procedures and how to use them.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.
• Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
• Protect the personal property of the residents.
• Others as directed by supervisor or administrator.

General Purpose:

Transport residents to and from appointments utilizing company vehicles.

Essential Job Functions

This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents.

Therefore, the following list of duties is not all-inclusive:

• Transport residents to and from appointments, admissions, or home after discharge.
• Understand vehicle operation and safety.
• Transfer resident to and from vehicle for appointments.
• Understand and be proficient in how to properly secure the resident in the vehicle for safe transport. (Operation of lift system, wheelchair lock, safety belts.)
• Assist residents with any non-emergent care needs during transport.
• Maintain a safe driving record.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of vehicles.
• Maintain fleet documents as needed.
• Fuel van as needed.
• May need to assist in scheduling transport if needed.
• Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.
• Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill & Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.
• Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
• Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility.
• Others as directed by the supervisor or administrator.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a valid TN drivers license and clean driving record.
