Job summary

Lifeguard Ambulance Service in Birmingham, AL is hiring Ambulance Operators (Drivers) who respond to emergency and non-emergency requests, delivering high-quality care, treatment and customer service to patients.

You will drive, document trip details, maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform the start-of-shift checklist, and work with a team of health and safety personnel to ensure safe, compliant patient transport.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid State Driver’s License.
  • CPR card preferred.
  • Pass Physical Agility Test.
  • Some healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to operation and dispatch requests and transport customers to and from facilities.
  • Document trip information, follow policies, and maintain confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Maintain a safe and clean vehicle environment; complete the start-of-shift checklist and report issues.
  • Use radio communications and standard codes to route patients and comply with security standards.
  • Operate stretcher, hydraulic lift, wheelchair and PPE; manage disposal of supplies.
  • Collaborate with allied health and public safety personnel, drivers and operations team.

Ambulance Operator (Driver)
Hourly rates starting at $14.00+ DOE
Full-time Opportunity

We’re hiring Ambulance Operators (Drivers) that will respond to emergency and/or non-emergency requests for transportation needs and deliver high-quality care, treatment and customer service to patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Drivers will respond to operation and dispatch requests and use the necessary tools, maps and addresses to efficiently transport customers to and from facilities in a timely manner.
  • Clearly document trip information details and adhere to company policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Take pride in maintaining a safe and clean vehicle environment for patients, complete the regular mechanical checklist at the start of shifts and report any vehicle issues to the Fleet Manager as needed.
  • Use appropriate communication methods including standard radio transmission codes to effectively respond and route patients and comply with the company’s information security standards.
  • Drivers will operate transportation equipment including stretcher, hydraulic lift, wheelchair as well as be able to use protective personal equipment and manage disposal of supplies as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow drivers and operations team.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • State Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • CPR card (Preferred)
  • Driving record in compliance with company policy
  • Pass Physical Agility Test
  • Some work experience, preferably in healthcare
