Job summary

Bethany Care Center is seeking a reliable driver to join our team in Missouri. The role includes safe operation of the vehicle, assisting residents, and securing mobility devices to ensure safe transport.

The position requires patient interaction, ability to follow instructions, a valid driver’s license, and 6–12 months of driving experience. Prior work with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care is a plus.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of loading, securing, and unloading passengers.
• Skill in operation and basic maintenance of a motor vehicle.
• Ability to locate geographic locations.
• Ability to follow oral/written instructions and keep a record of activities.
• Able to lift/move up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to establish and maintain relations with residents and staff.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 6–12 months of motor vehicle operation experience.
• Equivalent training/experience acceptable.
• Experience with disabilities or long-term care is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate the assigned motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Extensive contact with patients/residents of the facility.
• Assist ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals into and out of the vehicle.
• Ensure passengers are seated safely inside the vehicle.
• Secure residents’ mobility devices (walkers, wheelchairs).
• Perform preventive maintenance and report needs to the supervisor.

Job description

Bethany Care Center is currently seeking a driver to join our team.

Driver Duties and Responsibilities:

• The safe and efficient operation of assigned motor vehicle
• Extensive contact with patients/ residents of a nursing home facility
• Assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals enter and leave the vehicle
• Ensuring that passengers are safely seated inside the motor vehicle
• Securing residents’ mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs
• Performing preventive maintenance functions such as checking lights, maintaining fluid levels, checking tire pressure, etc. and notifying supervisory personnel of need for further service or repair

Driver Qualifications and Skills:

• Basic knowledge of methods and techniques used to load, secure, and unload passengers from a motor vehicle
• Skill in the operation and basic maintenance of assigned motor vehicle
• Ability to find geographic locations
• Ability to follow oral/ written instructions and keep a record of activities
• Ability to lift, maneuver, and support materials of up to 75 pounds
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and staff
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Six to 12 months of work experience operating, loading, and unloading a motor vehicle
• Any equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience which has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities stated above
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or experience working in long term care a plus
