Job description

Position Summary:

NextGen Global Resources is seeking an experienced, highly technical, and accomplished Drive Test Engineer with strong wireless telecommunications and RF measurement experience to join our global engineering team on a full‑time basis across nationwide U.S., Canada, Brazil, and UK locations. In this specialized radio frequency field engineering role, you will spearhead executing drive test data collection, analyzing wireless network coverage, verifying RF performance parameters, and identifying coverage holes or interference anomalies across cellular network deployments. You will work closely with radio frequency optimization squads, network architects, and field operations to ensure uncompromising signal quality, throughput, and service reliability. Ideal candidates bring a robust academic degree in telecommunications or electrical engineering, deep practical mastery of drive test measurement tools and post‑processing suites, and immediate availability for field deployment.

Detailed Job Description:

As a Drive Test Engineer at NextGen Global Resources across multiple international locations, you will take full ownership of radio frequency field data collection, baseline coverage verification, and benchmark testing across 4G LTE and 5G New Radio networks. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities encompass setting up drive test equipment, executing structured route testing, recording signal strength, SINR, RSRP, and RSRQ metrics, and generating post‑processing reports to isolate RF performance degradation. You will collaborate proactively with cross‑functional optimization engineers to implement recommended parameter changes and verify post‑tuning improvements. Working in a fast‑paced telecommunications technology environment, you will drive wireless network excellence, coverage optimization, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute structured drive test data collection across nationwide U.S., Canada, Brazil, and UK cellular networks.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate advanced drive test measurement tools, scanners, GPS units, and test mobile handsets.
  • Measure and record key radio frequency parameters including RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, RSSI, throughput, and call drop rates.
  • Identify and document coverage gaps, dead zones, pilot pollution, interference sources, and handoff failures.
  • Post‑process drive test log files utilizing professional RF analysis software (TEMS, Nemo, Actix, WindCatcher).
  • Author detailed field test reports, coverage maps, sector logs, and engineering diagnostic summaries.
  • Collaborate proactively with RF optimization engineers, network planners, and field maintenance crews.
  • Verify post‑tuning parameter adjustments and conduct cluster acceptance re‑testing.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, vehicle operation standards, and equipment maintenance guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventories of test hardware, software licenses, and calibration certificates.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 2+ years of professional experience in wireless telecommunications, RF engineering, or drive test execution.
  • Strong technical proficiency and operational mastery of drive test collection tools (TEMS Discovery, Nemo, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of cellular network architectures (GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G NR) and RF propagation principles.
  • Strong analytical skills for log file post‑processing, data scrubbing, and anomaly detection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel for field testing.
  • Professional availability for full‑time employment across U.S., Canada, Brazil, or UK locations (Application email: Zeenam.thatai@nextgengr.com).
Nice‑to‑Have Skills:
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA) or Ericsson/Nokia RF optimization certifications.
  • Hands‑on experience with 5G Standalone (SA) and Non‑Standalone (NSA) cluster optimization.
  • Advanced scripting skills in Python or MATLAB for automated log parsing.
  • Prior working experience in tier‑1 telecommunications operator field operations or wireless contracting firms.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Portuguese (for Brazil operations) or French/Spanish.
Application Information:
