Fervo Energy is offering a Drilling Internship focused on improving drilling performance within our active program. You will analyze performance data with drilling engineers and own a defined project, delivering tangible results during the 12-week period.

Successful interns gain hands-on exposure to field operations and office engineering, with potential for a full-time offer on the Drilling & Completions team.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Chemical Engineering (other core technical majors considered).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership.
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges.
• Comfort working with technical field data and a strong analytical mindset.

• Support well planning and offset well analysis.
• Help prepare and QC daily drilling reports.
• Track drilling performance metrics (ROP, cost per foot, days per well).
• Assist with vendor and rig-site coordination as needed.

You won't be running coffee orders or shuffling paperwork this summer. Position Description

Fervo Energy is developing next‑generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon‑free energy at scale, anchored by our flagship Cape Station project in Milford, Utah. As a Drilling Intern, you'll own a defined project aimed at improving drilling performance on our active program — working closely with Fervo's drilling engineers to analyze performance data and apply advanced techniques. You'll gain exposure to both office‑based engineering and field operations, picking up hands‑on experience at the intersection of engineering, field ops, and renewable energy innovation, with strong performers considered for a full‑time offer on the Drilling & Completions team.

Required Qualifications

• Rising Junior, Senior, Master's candidate wrapping up within the next year, or PhD candidate — we're building a pipeline toward full‑time offers
• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Chemical Engineering (other core technical majors considered)
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Drilling & Completions or oil & gas industry experience
