Job summary

Fervo Energy is seeking an Asset Reservoir Engineering Intern to work with our Reservoir Engineering team on well performance modeling and data analysis for geothermal projects. You will develop models that inform future well design and field development decisions, under the guidance of your manager.

This internship offers a real project with end-of-summer presentations to executives and leadership, giving you hands-on experience in geothermal energy engineering and operations.

Qualifications

• Rising Junior, Senior, Master's, or PhD candidate in petroleum or energy-related engineering, wrapping up within the next year.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership.
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Build analytical models (e.g., material balance, CRM, nodal analysis) to evaluate well performance.
• Compare analytical models with numerical results and validate conclusions.
• Analyze injection, production, pressure, and well data to inform reservoir design decisions.
• Attend team meetings and shares to build familiarity with operations.

Internship Overview

You won't be running coffee orders or shuffling paperwork this summer. Position Description

Fervo Energy is developing next-generation geothermal power to deliver firm, carbon-free energy at scale, anchored by our flagship Cape Station development in Milford, Utah. As an Asset Reservoir Engineering Intern, you'll join our Reservoir Engineering team to analyze well performance data and help build the models that inform how Fervo designs and spaces future geothermal wells.

Responsibilities

• Build analytical models (e.g., material balance, capacitance-resistance modeling, voidage replacement ratio, nodal analysis) to evaluate well pattern circulation performance
• Compare analytical model results to numerical model results
• Analyze injection, production, pressure, and well data
• Attend Resource team meetings, stimulation calls, and RE shares to build familiarity with Fervo operations

Required Qualifications

• Rising Junior, Senior, Master's, or PhD candidate in petroleum or energy-related engineering programwrapping up within the next year — we're building a pipeline toward full-time offers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to stakeholders and leadership
• Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly to new challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in analytical reservoir engineering methods (e.g., material balance, CRM, nodal analysis)
• Experience with simulation and/or numerical modeling
• Comfort working with production, injection, and pressure data
