Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. (F&R) is seeking a motivated individual to join our field drilling team in Roanoke, VA. The successful candidate will support the driller on site, learn field operations, and progress toward competency to work as a Driller.

The role focuses on teamwork, safety, and hands-on learning in a demanding field environment. Responsibilities include assisting with drilling operations, preparing tooling, sampling and processing samples, and maintaining equipment while adhering

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL preferred or able to obtain after employment.
• Willing to travel and stay out of town if needed on some occasions.
• Problem solver that can address roadblocks with poise and control.
• Should have basic math skills.
• Good customer relations skills.
• Must be punctual and dependable.
• Must be able to write legibly and follow instructions.
• Must be willing to work on a team or independently when needed.
• Must be willing to pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including background, drug screening and driving record verifications.
• Must have ability to drive company vehicle and pass DOT screening requirements at hire and duration of employment.
• Ability to lift heavy tooling (50-75 lbs) repetitively and perform laborious work daily.
• Ability to continuously stand, walk, and bend.
• Ability to frequently push, pull, and reach above shoulder.
• Ability to occasionally squat, kneel, crawl and climb.
• Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures.
• Ability to work in environments containing dust, fumes, and chemicals.
• Ability to travel overnight (up to 65% or more).

• Aids in maintaining tooling, prepping for assignments, setting up tooling, sampling equipment, sampling, classifying samples, and cleanup.
• Assists in loading and unloading equipment/tooling.
• Assists on the working floor—normal drilling procedures.
• Follows all safety regulations.
• Performs material inventory as needed/assigned.
• Upholds F&R mission statement and Core Values in all aspects of work.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a team spirit and will be able to support the team (Driller + Assistant Driller) by aiding the team driller on the field in whichever way necessary.This position will ultimately strive to be able to achieve competency to work as a Driller.

• Ability to lift heaving tooling (approximately 50-75 lbs) repetitively and perform laborious work daily
• Ability to continuously stand, walk, and bend

• Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
