Purpose

The Drill Operator position is responsible for safely performing skilled work which focuses on the operation of a drill utilized for blasting (rock removal) on construction projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate drill to prepare construction area for blasting.
• Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as scheduled and required.
• May operate a variety of equipment dependent upon skill set including, but not limited to skid steers, loaders and dozers.
• Performs a variety of tasks associated with blasting operations including job site labor duties.
• Participates in cross training activities.
• Operates all equipment and tools according to safety procedures and performs all manual labor activities in a safe manner.

Education and Experience

• 2+ years’ experience operating a drill.

Skills and Specifications

• Thorough understanding of various aspects of the blasting industry and all types of blasting equipment.
• Operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance of operating equipment.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in a team environment.
