Nevada Gold Mines is hiring a Drill & Shovel Mechanic for the Carlin Surface Maintenance department. You will join a collaborative team dedicated to safe, efficient maintenance of surface mining equipment.

The role emphasizes welding, electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and component replacements to keep the operation productive across a large mining complex. A strong commitment to safety and teamwork is essential in this environment.

Responsibilities

• Works as a team member.
• Works effectively with other crews.
• Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound work practices.
• Welding - Basic welding (small repairs) - Demonstrate proper use of cutting torch, Choose proper setting and wire for welding sheet metal, Proper installation of wear material.
• Electrical - Basic electric trouble shooting including reading schematics - Use a digital multimeter to take simple readings including Voltage, Continuity, Resistance, Amperage, Describe the difference between a Series and Parallel circuit.
• PM equipment maintenance.
• Operate boom truck.
• Engine - Change alternator belts, Change fan belts.
• Component - Replace drivelines and U-joints.
• Frame & Body - Blade swaps.
• Hydraulic - Basic hydraulic troubleshooting including reading schematics - Identify hydraulic tank components, fluid types, pumps, motors, valves, and flow concepts.
