Job summary

The County of Volusia is seeking a Trades Worker for the Road and Bridge Division’s Drainage Task Team in DeLand, Florida. The role covers semi-skilled work across several trades with supervision as needed.

Typical duties include drainage work, concrete, pipe installation, and operation of a range of equipment. A high school diploma or GED and two years in maintenance/repair are required, plus a Florida Class A CDL within six months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and two years of maintenance/repair experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license; obtain a Florida Class A CDL within 6 months.
• Comparable education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
• Preferred candidate will have Class A CDL and concrete/pipe experience as specified.

Responsibilities

• May install and repair underground drainage piping, structures and restoration.
• May perform concrete work (e.g., sidewalks, driveways, free form, etc.).
• May do grade shots for pipe and structure installation.
• May perform small engine repair.
• May operate equipment and vehicles including tractors, loaders, excavators, skid loaders, trucks.
• May perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
