Job summary

City of San Antonio is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to investigate, document, and respond to requests for public infrastructure maintenance and repair. The role works outdoors, often in drainage systems, with exposure to temperature extremes and construction environments.

Responsibilities include site visits, determining ownership and type of work, coordinating with staff, and ensuring safety/regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by TEA or regional accrediting agency.
• Experience in field construction and maintenance is required (3 years).
• Valid Class C Texas Driver's License is required.
• Preferred: SAP and Lagan experience, customer service, and street construction knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conducts site visits to assess requests.
• Respond to situations where maintenance or repair of public infrastructures may need to be performed, frequently lifting and carrying equipment weighing 25 pounds.
• Determines ownership and responsibility for areas in need of maintenance or repair.
• Determines type of maintenance or repair to be completed.
• Ensures compliance with safety and equipment standards, standard operating procedures and service level agreements.
• Coordinates with appropriate personnel for maintenance and repairs.
• Plans, coordinates, and controls work zone traffic.
• Prepares reports and maintains necessary records of work scheduled and performed.
• May have to perform minor maintenance and repairs when applicable.
• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
