Volkert, Inc. is seeking an entry/midlevel Drainage/Hydraulics Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support the Mid Atlantic Region located in Springfield, VA.

A Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering is required to be considered. The role involves assisting with assignments for VDOT and local municipalities, performing drainage and roadway infrastructure design tasks, and using MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and related software to prepare plans, reports, and estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.
• EIT (E.I) certification desired or the commitment to acquire it within 1 year.
• 1–4 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software (among other software).

We are currently searching for an entry/midlevel Drainage/Hydraulics Engineer in Training (E.I.) to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Springfield, VA. To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assists with various assignments for VDOT and local municipalities
• Performs engineering deliverables associated with drainage and roadway infrastructure improvements
• Assists and prepares project plans using the latest CADD software including but not limited to MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and/or AutoCADD, among others
• Contributes to the preparation and/or modification of engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects
• Works with senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projects
• Performs the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements
• Prepares and assists in the preparation of project construction quantities, details, cost estimates and the preparation of project specifications
• Performs other duties as assigned

What You Need To Have

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering
• EIT (E.I) Certification is desired (or the commitment to acquire it within 1-year)
• 1 - 4 years of engineering experience
• Experience with (or strong willingness to learn) MicroStation, OpenRoads, Geopak, Civil3D, StormCAD, ORD, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software (among other software)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Bonus Points If You Have

• Previous VDOT/Municipal experience is a plus
• Prior knowledge of VDOT standards is plus
