Job summary

Galloway & Company, Inc. in Colorado invites a Drainage Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team, applying hydrologic and hydraulic methods to land development projects. You will support senior engineers, develop robust drainage solutions, and contribute to high-quality design documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE license or eligibility to take the PE exam within six months of hire.
  • Experience performing drainage design, hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, engineering calculations, and plan production for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience applying local agency and DOT drainage design standards for closed pipe systems, open channels, and water quality design.
  • Proficiency with CUHP, SWMM, HY-8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, and other engineering software used for drainage analysis and design.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with the ability to prepare clear engineering documentation and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard software including CUHP, SWMM, HY-8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, and related tools.
  • Design stormwater conveyance systems, detention facilities, culverts, open channels, and water quality and LID facilities.
  • Develop engineering calculations, evaluate design alternatives, and provide technical recommendations supported by sound engineering judgment.
  • Prepare drainage reports, stormwater management plans, and technical memoranda specifications.
  • Produce and review drainage plan sheets, profiles, details, and exhibits that communicate design intent and satisfy project requirements.
  • Coordinate drainage design with roadway, structural, utilities, environmental, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Support technical reviews and implement QA/QC procedures to ensure accurate, complete, and constructible designs.
  • Participate in field investigations, evaluate existing site conditions, and support construction by reviewing RFIs, submittals, and drainage-related design questions.
  • Communicate technical findings, project progress, and engineering recommendations with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
