Job summary

GAI seeks a Drainage Engineer with an active Florida PE license to join our transportation and infrastructure team. This role involves planning, analyzing, designing, and delivering drainage and stormwater projects across Florida, supporting roadway, municipal, and civil infrastructure initiatives.

The candidate should have 8+ years of drainage design experience, FDOT/ SJRWMD coordination, and proficiency with HEC-RAS, HY-8, ICPR, and MicroStation, in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Active Florida PE license or ability to obtain via reciprocity.
• 5+ years drainage engineering experience on transportation, municipal, or civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience with FDOT Drainage Manual, FDOT Design Manual (FDM), and Florida stormwater regulations.
• Experience preparing drainage reports and hydraulic/hydrologic calculations.
• Proficiency with ICPR, HEC-RAS, HY-8, GeoHECRAS, and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead drainage analyses and design for transportation, municipal, and land development projects.
• Prepare drainage reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Design stormwater management systems, culverts, retention/detention facilities, conveyance systems, and roadway drainage infrastructure.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software.
• Coordinate with project managers, roadway engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory agencies.
• Prepare permit applications and support agency coordination with FDOT, SJRWMD, and local municipalities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
• Participate in client meetings, project presentations, and business development activities.
• Support project budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
