Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking an enthusiastic Drainage Assistant to join the Bristol Depot. This full-time role involves working closely with experienced engineers to conduct surveys of drainage systems, identify issues, and support maintenance strategies.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid UK driving licence and have a keen interest in utilities or civil engineering. This position offers training opportunities, 21 days holiday plus bank holidays, and enhanced overtime rates.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
• Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors
• Desire to learn new software

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages and structural defects
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance
• Support CCTV inspections to assess underground pipes
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding

Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Drainage Assistant to join our team working out of our Bristol Depot. You will work alongside experienced engineers to carry out surveys of drainage systems, learn how to assess conditions, identify defects, and support maintenance and repair strategies. This is a permanent full-time role, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

As a Drainage Assistant, You Will

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness
• Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision

About You

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)

• Good communication and teamwork skills
