Job Title: Drafting Technician

Cardinal is a well-established civil engineering and land surveying firm rooted in Lake Geneva, WI. We are known for delivering high-quality, efficient service with a personal, community-first touch. We are looking for an entry-level Drafting Technician who is eager to master the art of technical drafting while upholding our commitment to accuracy and professional excellence.

Position Overview

The Drafting Technician is primarily responsible for the production and completion of technical drawings and project documentation. Reporting to a Project Manager, you will be trained to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of individual tasks, from small surveys to full plan sets. This role requires a professional who can manage their time effectively and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Maintain current and organized digital and physical project folders, complete required checklists, and proper due diligence research.
  • Perform timely revisions to assigned jobs as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure required checklists are completed and maintain organized project folders.
  • Meet with your Project Manager each morning to discuss your daily schedule and priorities.
  • Learn to utilize Civil 3D, Smart Sheets, and Google Docs for all drafting needs.
  • Check company communications (Email, Google Chat) daily and attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Prepare to speak intelligently about project status and communicate professionally with clients or contractors when directed.

Compensation & Benefits

Rate: $20 – $27 per hour based on experience
Job Type: Full-Time
Hours: 32-40hrs per week
Work Location: In Office

Health Insurance Subsidy: A pre-tax subsidy of up to $500 per month toward any health insurance plan you purchase.

Life Insurance: Company-sponsored policy included.

Retirement & Compensation
401(k) Plan: Participation in the company-paid plan with a 3% employer match.
Annual Performance Bonus: Eligibility for an annual bonus based on individual achievement and company performance.
Overtime: Opportunities for overtime pay are available as business needs allow and per your preference.
Mileage Reimbursement: Use of your personal vehicle for company business will be reimbursed at the current IRS standard mileage rate.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
Vacation: Two weeks (80 hours) of paid time off annually.
Personal Time: One week (40 hours) of personal time (usage guidelines are detailed in the Employee Handbook).
Paid Holidays: 8.5 paid holidays per year.
