Job summary

Ajulia Executive Search is recruiting a Lead CAD Designer in Louisiana to lead a drafting team and drive best practices across 2D/3D design using Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical. You will mentor staff, ensure quality deliverables, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to meet schedules.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in drafting/design within manufacturing or industrial settings, with demonstrated leadership and strong BOM/PLM experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting or Mechanical Design; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 7+ years of drafting/design experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Advanced expertise in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical; strong BOM management.
• Solid knowledge of GD&T, dimensional tolerancing, drafting standards, and PDM/PLM systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead drafting resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a drafting/design team through coaching, training, performance management, and technical guidance.
• Drive expertise in 2D/3D CAD tools (Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical) while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain drafting standards, templates, libraries, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all design deliverables.
• Oversee drawing production, reviews, revisions, BOMs, release processes, and document control while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and revision integrity.
• Manage project workloads, prioritize assignments, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on schedule.
• Serve as the CAD systems subject-matter expert, supporting design development, PDM/PLM administration, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead drafting resources, and deliver accurate, high-quality engineering documentation within demanding project schedules
