We are seeking a Drafting Field Technician (Templater) to join our countertop operations team. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position responsible for visiting residential jobsites and capturing accurate measurements and project details needed for the fabrication and installation of countertops. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, dependable, comfortable working independently in the field, and able to communicate professionally with customers, contractors, sales teams, and operations personnel. Experience with countertop templating, construction measurements, drafting, or residential construction is preferred; however, training will be provided for the right candidate.

This is a full‑time, first‑shift position, Monday through Friday, reporting to the Installation Manager. Local travel to customer jobsites is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Travel to residential construction and remodeling jobsites according to the daily schedule.
  • Accurately measure and template countertop areas in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Identify jobsite conditions, measurements, or potential issues that could impact fabrication, installation, cost, or project completion.
  • Accurately document and submit measurements and job information in a timely manner.
  • Communicate jobsite details, changes, concerns, and special requirements to the appropriate sales and operations teams.
  • Serve as a professional liaison between customers, contractors, sales representatives, and operations when needed.
  • Verify that jobsite conditions are ready for countertop fabrication and installation.
  • Help identify potential installation challenges before countertops are fabricated.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of countertop fabrication and installation processes, including granite, quartz, and other countertop materials.
  • Plan and manage daily travel routes efficiently while adapting to schedule or project changes.
  • Provide excellent customer service while representing the company at customer homes and construction sites.
  • Assist with countertop fabrication or other shop activities when needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and jobsite requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education, Experience & Qualification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience using CAD or a similar drafting/design application.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment and/or supporting sales or project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including regular use of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills, including the ability to:
  • Work with fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Accurately record and calculate measurements.
  • Calculate and convert square footage and square yardage.
  • Perform basic calculations related to project measurements and costs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, sales teams, project teams, and other internal partners.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards based on a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review at the time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple jobsite appointments, and adapt to changes in the daily schedule.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in countertop templating, countertop fabrication or installation, cabinetry, residential construction, remodeling, or a related skilled trade.
  • Experience working in customers' homes, active construction sites, or other field-based environments.
  • Experience reading construction drawings, layouts, blueprints, or similar technical documents.
  • Familiarity with digital measuring or templating equipment is a plus.
Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to:

  • Drive for extended periods throughout the workday while traveling between jobsites.
  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Safely navigate residential homes, construction sites, fabrication facilities, and other jobsite environments.
  • Regularly lift, carry, and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform detailed visual inspections and identify differences in measurements, product quality, jobsite conditions, and installation requirements.
  • Safely use measuring, templating, and other equipment required to perform the position.
