Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Engineering Services seeks a Designer Intern to work full-time during the summer and/or part-time during the school year in Lakewood, CO. The role focuses on developing electrical design knowledge under engineer supervision and contributes to real projects.

Ideal candidates are current students in EET/CAD/drafting, skilled in AutoCAD or MicroStation, with strong written and verbal communication and the ability to learn quickly and work in a team

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a degree in EET, CAD, drafting, or related field.
• Demonstrated competence in CADD drafting (AutoCAD and/or Microstation).
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs, BOMs, and job estimates under supervision.
• Prepare CAD or Microstation drawings and other project documentation.
• Provide low-level engineering support to engineers and other staff.
• Complete assigned work within schedule and budget with high quality.
• Construct relay equipment racks for testing and assist with testing.

Designer Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) Engineering Services seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Designer Intern position. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work full-time during the summer and/or part-time during the school year. If you are a current student at an accredited university in the Lakewood, CO area looking for an opportunity to develop your electrical design knowledge, learn from industry leading engineers, and enhance your academic learning, then this may be the position for you!

Typical Responsibilities

• Creating detailed physical and electrical designs, bills of materials, and job estimates under the technical supervision of an engineer.
• Preparing CAD or Microstation drawings and other project documentation.
• Providing low-level engineering support to engineers and other support personnel within division.
• Completing assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget to a high level of quality.
• Constructing relay equipment racks for testing purposes on projects and assist with the testing.

Qualifications

• You are a current student pursing a degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or relevant discipline.
• You have demonstrated competence in CADD drafting (AutoCAD and/or Microstation).
• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• You are able to to work cooperatively in team environment.
