Job summary

Alpha 3 is seeking a Drafter I to support designers and engineers on electrical substation, utility and infrastructure projects in Richmond, VA. This full-time role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 from home) in a growing infrastructure-focused environment.

The ideal candidate is a recent associate or BS graduate in Engineering Science with an interest in utility design work. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD tools; MicroStation preferred.
• AS/BS in Engineering or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of drafting practices and procedures.
• Team player able to work on multiple projects.
• 2D/3D drawing capability and visualization.
• Able to incorporate feedback and meet deadlines.
• Associates in drafting/design or related bachelor with drafting cert or ENG tech degree.
• Willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CAD tools to develop substation project drawings.
• Assist in creation of one-lines, schematics, layouts, site plans and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team and vendors.
• Provide clarification on drawings and guide design modifications.
• Support onsite walkdowns with the design team.
