Job summary

Architecture Houston is seeking a detail-focused, in-office Architectural Drafter to refine plans in CAD and Revit for custom homes and remodels. You will translate client feedback into buildable revisions and participate in design meetings.

You will collaborate with estimating and project management to ensure clear, accurate, and estimate-ready drawings, maintaining drafting standards and occasionally assisting with material takeoffs and site visits.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in CAD and Revit.
• An eye for the details.
• Solid understanding of residential construction and how plans translate to the field.
• A genuine eye for design and an interest in residential architecture.
• Strong communication/customer service skills and comfort interacting directly with clients in a design-meeting setting
• Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple projects/deadlines at once
• A team-player mindset - this role works hand-in-hand with estimating, selections, and project management
• Experience with custom home or remodeling plans preferred, not required

Responsibilities

• Modify and refine architectural plans in CAD and Revit for custom homes and remodels
• Review and mark up plans to ensure they meet Sneller's internal standards before they’re released to estimating
• Sit in on client design meetings, translating homeowner vision and feedback into accurate, buildable plan revisions
• Work closely with our estimating team to make sure plans are clear, complete, and estimate-ready, answering questions and resolving discrepancies as they come up
• Maintain consistent drafting standards, notes, and details across all projects
• As time allows, support our Selections Coordinator with material takeoffs, ordering, and occasional job site visits to verify field conditions against plans

Job description

This position is central to how our projects get built right the first time. While the majority of our jobs already have an Architect developing the plans, there is often a gap between what is drawn and the level of detail our team requires for accurate estimating and construction. In this position, you’ll take finalized architectural plans and fill in pages and details with what’s missing so no assumptions have to be made by our Estimating or Construction crews. Since you’ll also sit in on design meetings with clients, you will need to be comfortable engaging clients and behind a computer.

This is a full time, in office position
