Job summary

Ervin Cable Construction LLC seeks a Drafter/Designer to plot, map, design, and draft in CADD for telecommunications networks and permits. You will create accurate network maps, layouts, drawings and detailed electronic construction prints to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities include creating new OSP network designs, developing and issuing work prints, coordinating with engineering/construction and permitting agencies, and ensuring compliance with regulations including RUS.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old and US work authorization
• OSP design/engineering experience is required; degree preferred
• Strong knowledge of telecom standards and permitting
• Experience with OSP design tools (AutoCAD, NDS, FROGS)

Responsibilities

• Create new OSP network designs in various applications/software
• Develop and issue work prints for OSP telecom networks
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and permitting agencies
• Create documentation supporting the work package (BOM, labor quantities)
• Ensure facility designs comply with regulations including RUS
• Provide documentation for cost-efficient facility placement
• Meet project deadlines and complete tasks on tight timelines
• Other duties as assigned

Job Responsibilities

• Create new OSP network designs in various applications/software
• Develop and issue work prints for OSP telecom networks
• Work with engineering and construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies
• Create documentation and reporting to support the work package (e.g., bill of materials, labor quantities)
• Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with local, state and federal regulations, including Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
• Provide necessary documentation for cost‑effective placement of communication facilities
• Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High school diploma, GED, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP design/engineering experience (required); associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

• Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements

• OSP communications design systems
• Applications such as NDS, FROGS, AutoCAD, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset
• Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high‑density fiber environment

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
• Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk when necessary

Remuneration

The wage range for Drafter/Designer is $50,000.00 - $65,000.00.
