Job summary

AtBigham Cable Construction, Inc. seeks a Drafter Designer to plot, map, design, and draft telecom network layouts using CADD tools and RUS regulations. You will produce accurate network maps, work prints, and construction prints meeting customer specs.

Role involves collaboration with Engineering and Construction teams, coordinating permitting agencies, and delivering documentation such as BOMs and labor quantities to support the work package. A strong grasp of OSP design standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Three years of telecommunications OSP design/engineering experience required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software.
• Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Construction departments and permitting agencies.
• Create documentation and reporting to support the work package (bill of materials, labor quantities).
• Ensure facility designs comply with local, state and federal regulations (RUS).
• Provide documentation for cost-effective placement of communication facilities.
• Meet project deadlines and complete tasks under tight timelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do

• Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this companyHigh School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP Design/Engineering Experience is required
• Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred

Knowledge of

• Telecommunications industry standards
• Regulations for OSP facilities
• Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
• Government permit requirements
• OSP Communications Design systems
• Applications such as NDS, FROGS, AutoCAD, Fireworks, Bidmaster, Infinium and/or Varasset
• Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
• Occasionally: Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
