Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking an experienced draftsman/modeler to support the Naval Air Systems Command at NAS North Island, CA. The role emphasizes 2D drafting, 3D CAD modeling (CREO/SolidWorks), and BOM management within a military-grade environment.

Candidates must have 3–10 years of drafting experience, a HS Diploma, and a current Secret clearance. The position is on-site in California with competitive hourly compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Job description

Directly support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), F/A-18 & EA-18G Fleet Support Team (FST) at Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, California. Candidate will posses:

• Product Lifecycle: Strong understanding of the engineering product lifecycle, including prototype, design, production, sustainment, and obsolescence phases.
• 2D Drafting: Ability to create, modify, and expertly interpret 2D mechanical drawings.
• 3D CAD: Proficiency in creating and modifying 3D CAD models using CREO and/or SolidWorks.
• Standards: Working familiarity with MIL-SPEC and ASME standards.
• Documentation: Experience building and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), Parts Lists, and drawing trees.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills; must be a self-starter who works well independently and integrates seamlessly into a team environment.
• Desired Experience: CAD/CAM software experience required.
• Current Secret clearance is required.
• No per diem.
• Work location at NAS North Island, CA area.
• Start date is ASAP.
• Minimum Experience Requirements: Has three (3) to 10 years of experience in drafting/modeling.
• Minimum Education Requirements: HS Diploma
• Minimum Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, in an office environment.

Base Hourly Range: $40.00-$45.00/ hr This base pay range is specific to residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Washington, and any other state that may require such disclosure. Compensation in other geographies may vary. Base salary is just one component of LMI’s total rewards philosophy.
