Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Full-Time Lab Technical Coordinator- Generalist MT/MLS II for Christian Northwest Health Care / Siteman North County Lab in the St. Louis area.

The role involves coordinating technical activities, QA, and staff training across shifts. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Physical/Life Science, ASCP MT/MLS certification, and 2–5 years of generalist lab experience with blood bank exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required for Physical/Life Science/related field.
• ASCP certification (MT/MLS) preferred or required per role.
• 2–5 years of laboratory experience in a generalist setting with blood bank experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses workload, prioritizes work, and adjusts staffing; coordinates schedules with supervisors.
• Ensures maintenance of laboratory services and quality per system, government, and accreditation standards.
• Oversees daily shift operations to meet laboratory goals and manage costs.
• Develops QA monitors and implements processes; analyzes data to identify problems and implement solutions.
• Trains new and existing staff and participates in competency assessment for Clinical Laboratory Scientist students.

Christian Northwest Health Care / Siteman North County Lab is seeking a Full-Time Lab Technical Coordinator - Generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist MT/MLS II.

Position Details

• Day Shift: Monday – Friday (6:30AM- 3:00PM to 9:00AM - 5:30PM)
• Rotating Weekend / Holidays
• Full-Time (40 hours per week)
• Generalist with Blood bank experience (highly preferred)
• ASCP certification

Role Purpose

Coordinates the technical activities of the department (inventory management, R&D, technical procedures and Policies, CAP readiness, etc.). Also performs testing and processing of routine and complex testing on blood and other specimens as well as acts as a resource person to staff.

Responsibilities

• Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed. Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
• Ensures maintenance of laboratory services and quality in accordance with prescribed standards and policies of the system, government and other accreditation agencies.
• Takes responsibility for the daily operations, both technically and administratively, for the shift to ensure quality services. Coordinates with all lab supervisors and frontline staff to ensure laboratory goals are met to improve quality service and reduce costs.
• Develops appropriate QA monitors with supervisor and implements processes for shift to ensure quality. Evaluates data, identifies problems, and recommends solutions.
• Teaches and/or trains new and established staff members and Clinical Laboratory Scientist students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory. Participates in competency assessment of staff.
