Job summary

The City of Farmington Hills is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform construction, road repair, landscaping, litter control, storm drain repairs, forestry maintenance, traffic sign maintenance, and snow/ice control. You will work under road maintenance supervisors and senior operators in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
• Must obtain Class A CDL with air brake and tank endorsements within 120 days of hire.
• Ability to operate one-ton or smaller vehicle, plow snow and tow a trailer.
• Commercial Pesticide Application license category 6 & 3b preferred or able to obtain within 120 days of hire.

Job description

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction, road repair, landscaping, litter control, storm drain repairs, forestry maintenance, traffic sign maintenance, and snow/ice control. Work is performed under the direction of road maintenance supervisors and senior equipment operators during all weather conditions.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

Landscaping, construction, snow plowing, medium and heavy truck and equipment operations, or equivalent experience.

EDUCATION, SPECIAL TRAINING & SKILLS REQUIRED

Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent, Associates degree preferred. Possess a valid Michigan Operator's license, must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tank endorsements within 120 days of the date of hire. Must be able to operate a one-ton or less, medium size vehicle, plow snow and tow a trailer. Applicant must also be able to safely operate various types of power tools. Applicant is preferred to have a Commercial Pesticide Application license category 6 & 3b or able to obtain one within 120 days of the hire date.

START DATE & WORK SCHEDULE

ASAP; 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday with potential of scheduled and emergency overtime at night and on weekends. Must work a minimum of 50% of emergency overtime that is offered.
