Job summary

Town of Nantucket’s Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable Laborer to support day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of Town facilities on Nantucket.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, assisting with upkeep, moving materials, basic repairs (painting, carpentry, plumbing), and operating tools. This is a full-time role with AFSCME union benefits and competitive starting pay.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
• Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing thirty (30) pounds or less may be required.
• Work may require outdoor labor in inclement weather.

• Assist with facility projects, repairs, and maintenance activities as assigned.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Laborer - Facilities

Town of Nantucket’s Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable and motivated Laborer to join our team. This is a full-time position responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of Town facilities.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance of Town facilities
• Assist with the general upkeep, cleanliness, and safe operation of buildings and facilities
• Move, load, unload, and transport materials, equipment, furniture, supplies, and other items as needed

Contract : Full Time; Benefits; AFSCME Union, M2 position

Starting Hourly Rate : $33.50 (new hires) – $41.67 (employees with 12 years of service with the Town of Nantucket)
