Icon Fitness is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the HRCP expansion project in Norfolk, VA. The role requires operating and maintaining machines like bulldozers, excavators, loaders and graders to prepare and grade surfaces.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must pass drug screen
• Minimum of 3 years experience operating heavy construction equipment (bulldozer, excavators, rollers, loaders)
• Strongly prefer High School Diploma
• Must communicate effectively with others
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Must perform physical activities requiring lifting, climbing, and bending
• Must demonstrate attention to details
• Must be knowledgeable about safety procedures and practices

Responsibilities

• Operate one or several types of heavy construction equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth or pour concrete
• Repair and maintain equipment as needed
• Take action to avoid hazards and obstructions
• Start engines, adjust throttles and levers to operate machines
• Locate underground services before work begins
• Monitor operations to meet health and safety standards
• Align machines using stakes and signals from crew
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities and signals
• Learn and follow safety regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned
