Our work includes construction services for public works, water resources, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and site development. Your Responsibilities as a Dozer Operator

As a Dozer Operator at Petticoat-Schmitt, you’ll need a solid background operating a Dozer.

• Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across the front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads/building platforms and installing underground utilities
• Fastens attachments to a tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes, hand signals, or GPS devices.
• Safe and efficient operation of dozer around the job site
• Handling and/or moving material
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
• Daily maintenance of equipment

Requirements for the Dozer Operator Position at Petticoat-Schmitt:

• 3+ years of heavy civil construction Dozer operation experience (preferred)
• Ability to use the controls to effectively operate the tractor/dozer
• Understands and watches machine control, gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.
• Grading
• Safety practices and proper PPE
• Understands survey markers and stakes
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Punctual
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
• Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people working towards a common goal.
• Must have reliable transportation and be willing to commute within a 50-mile radius around Jacksonville and surrounding areas, including counties of Nassau, Clay, Duval, and St. Johns
• Must be willing to undergo a background check

• Normal hours are M-F, 7am – 3:30pm
• Hours can extend depending on production needs.
• Some Saturdays as necessary. We are off on Sundays.
• We plan on working 40-45 hours per week. Overtime is likely but not guaranteed.
