Job summary

Audubon Nature Institute is seeking a Downtown Gardener to maintain and beautify gardens at Woldenberg Riverfront Park in New Orleans. You will perform daily horticultural tasks under supervision and participate in large garden projects, ensuring high-quality guest experiences.

The role requires physical work outdoors, use of various gardening tools, and collaboration with the Horticulture department to keep gardens vibrant and welcoming for visitors.

Qualifications

• Must be able to use handheld gardening tools as part of daily garden maintenance.
• Must operate and maintain fuel in gas powered hedge trimmers, weed eaters, blowers and mowers.
• Valid Louisiana driver’s license and ability to tow trailers with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine maintenance of garden zones under the direction of the Horticulturist.
• Assist with daily care including planting, weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, and debris removal.
• Assist Horticulturist with large scale garden projects and park facility services.
• Maintain garden projects daily with attention to detail and safety standards.
• Contribute to group activities and ensure positive guest experiences.
