Job summary

The City of Reading, PA is seeking a Downtown Ambassador Specialist to maintain a clean and welcoming downtown environment. The role involves daily cleaning, interacting respectfully with visitors and residents, and reporting incidents as needed to support a vibrant downtown vision.

The ambassador will engage with local businesses and employees, assist with events, provide outreach to people in need, and collaborate on problem-solving with the supervisor and city property checks to ensure safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• PA driver's license is required.
• Previous experience performing manual work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations to ensure a clean and safe downtown environment.
• Perform trash, leaves, snow, and ice removal across designated areas.
• Pressure wash sidewalks and maintain cleanliness.
• Remove litter from planters, tree pits, and stairwells.
• Ensure bus shelters are clean and free of litter.
• Empty and maintain trash receptacles throughout the area.
• Engage with local businesses and employees to address concerns and promote cleanliness.
• Assist with event preparation and cleanup.
• Provide Human Services outreach to those in need within the community.
• Complete weekly activity reports using Microsoft.
• Attend community meetings as requested by the supervisor.
• Collaborate on problem-solving when issues arise.
• Regularly assess city property (e.g., streetlights, trash cans) to ensure they are operational.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
