Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks an Engineer III in Downstream Process Development to drive chromatography, harvest, ultrafiltration, and viral clearance experiments. You will support bench-to-pilot scale work on early- and late-stage programs, maintain equipment, and document results in ELN with clear data presentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related field with relevant lab experience.
  • Experience with chromatography, harvest, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and viral clearance steps.
  • Experience in process development, protein purification, or related lab setting.
  • Familiarity with lab control systems and basic data analysis.
  • Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks and documenting results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Support downstream biotherapeutics process development across multiple scales.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and data capture.
  • Assist with small projects and guide junior team members.

Job description

Downstream Process Development, Engineer III
Responsibilities
  • Execute chromatography, harvest operations, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and viral clearance experiments (may also support bioconjugation).
  • Support downstream biotherapeutics process development across micro, bench, and pilot scales for early- and late-stage programs.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and support instrument readiness.
  • Plan and execute larger experiments with more senior process engineers.
  • Document experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks; maintain timely, complete records.
  • Perform basic data analysis and support study conclusions.
  • Prepare technical summaries and written study updates.
  • Follow established lab/process development procedures, including quality and safety requirements.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in workflows, data capture, and experimental execution.
  • Assist with small projects/tasks under close supervision; advise peers/junior team members when needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years relevant experience, or Master’s degree with relevant experience, in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related field.
  • Experience with chromatography, harvest, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, and viral clearance steps.
  • Some relevant experience in process development, protein purification, or related lab setting.
  • Experience with basic bioprocess control systems.
  • Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Ability to perform basic data analysis and present results clearly in writing.
  • Familiarity with technical writing.
  • Understanding of lab practices, process development methods, and quality requirements.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records under close supervision.
  • Comfort with emerging digital tools and AI-enabled processes for data analysis/documentation/workflow improvement.
