Job summary

Atlanta Diabetes Associates PC seeks a full-time clinical laboratory support professional to assist two teams within our clinical laboratory. This role includes specimen collection, processing, and patient-facing duties with effective communication and engagement.

You will interact with pharmaceutical and medical device representatives and provide essential clinical data during and after patient visits. Ideal candidates show urgency, attention to detail, and comfort with technology.

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate from an accredited program in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Assisting, or the natural sciences.
• Equivalent education and/or work experience

Responsibilities

• Perform various technical laboratory procedures according to medical office laboratory national standards.
• Interact with patients professionally and respond to patient inquiries in a professional and polite manner.
• Follow laboratory policy for requisition processing, specimen identification, result reporting, and billing.
• Safely and correctly collect patient samples, accurately recording patient information.
• Use clear and concise verbal and written communication with medical staff and patients.
• Act independently on supervisor’s instructions.
• Participate in the laboratory’s quality control, recognize unusual results and take corrective action; assume responsibility for resolving problems.
• Possess adequate knowledge of instrumentation, theory, and application of laboratory tests.
• Possess a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Perform required preventative maintenance procedures on laboratory instrumentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with computer technology and medical devices.
• Identify actual or potential equipment failures and refer complex issues to an appropriate supervisor.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPPA standards.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with the medical staff and office personnel.
• Participate in safety education programs.

Our practice seeks to fill a full-time position supporting two teams within our clinical laboratory. Along with traditional laboratory specimen collection and processing, some responsibilities of this position are patient-facing which require effective communication and patient engagement. The position also involves extensive interaction with pharmaceutical and medical device industry representatives. In this role, you will support the care provided by our clinicians by providing essential clinical data both during and after a patient's visit. Due to the nature of the position, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and an ability to utilize technology are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office, laboratory, and/or clinic environment. This is a full-time position and full-time is defined as 40 hours per work week. Requirements

Experience:

• Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CNA (Preferred)
• Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
• Medical Technologist (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
