Job summary

Americold Logistics, LLC. is seeking a DoW Skillbridge Internship - Maintenance Technician I (Finance) to support refrigeration maintenance across the warehouse.

The role involves operating, repairing, and adjusting refrigeration systems, monitoring performance, and executing safety procedures in a controlled environment. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in industrial refrigeration maintenance or 3+ years in industrial maintenance with relevant certifications, plus Hazmat training and CMMS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years of Industrial Refrigeration Maintenance experience or 3+ years Industrial Maintenance experience with relevant certification (RETA, Garden City, EPA Universal).
• Must complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration and maintenance courses.
• Experience with troubleshooting across control systems (ALTA/Allen Bradley).
• Hazmat training/certification required.
• Experience using Oracle CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Perform operation, repair and adjustment of refrigeration systems throughout the warehouse.
• Monitor system performance and identify when issues arise.
• Replace components with safety procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
• Conduct basic pump-outs/evacuations for maintenance needs.
• Perform routine maintenance on warehouse equipment per OSHA standards.
• Test and calibrate HVAC equipment and use measurement instruments.
• Inspect work for compliance with blueprints, specs and safety standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment and determine root cause; perform corrective actions.

DoW Skillbridge Internship - Maintenance Technician I (Finance)

Under general supervision, works independently performing routine refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse.

What You’ll Do:

• Performs operation, repair and adjustment of refrigeration system.
• Monitors system performance and determines when system is not operating correctly.
• Replaces components within the refrigeration system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
• Performs basic pump out/evacuate refrigerant as necessary for valve replacement and/or repair.
• Performs routine maintenance on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.
• Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Tests and calibrates HVAC equipment.
• Inspects completed work for compliance to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.
• Troubleshoots equipment and recommends corrective action. Individuals should understand key troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause.
• Conducts tests of safety equipment to ensure OHSA and operational standards
• Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records with the CMMS System.
• Keeps work area and tools 6S'd (well maintained, clean, organized, etc.), and performs housekeeping duties as required.
• Work flexible shifts, if required, including on call.
• Performs related work and other job assignments as required.

What Experience and Education You Need:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 2+ years of Industrial Refrigeration Maintenance experience

  OR

• 3+ years Industrial Maintenance experience, plus relevant industry certification (i.e. RETA, Garden City, EPA Universal etc)
• Required to successfully complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration and maintenance courses.
• Troubleshooting and repairs with differing control systems ALTA/Allen Bradley etc.
• Required to be trained in HAZMAT; obtain and maintain the certification.
• Experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

What Could Set You Apart

• Experience working in a Cold Storage environment
• Ammonia refrigeration maintenance experience
• CARO and CIRO certification
• Experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose down to the component level on all refrigeration equipment

Share knowledge, train and develop less experienced technicians.

Physical Requirements

Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).

Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.

Able to work in confined areas.

Able to climb ladders and stairs.

Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.

Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.

Able to operate hand and power tools safely.

Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia.)

Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam.

Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.

Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.

Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.
