Job summary

Americold Logistics, LLC. seeks a Refrigeration Technician III to perform advanced maintenance and repair of ammonia refrigeration systems in a warehouse environment.

You will oversee contractor work and ensure compliance with 6S and safety protocols while optimizing reliability across machinery. The role requires strong troubleshooting across refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, plus CMMS data retention and training of junior staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of Industrial Refrigeration maintenance, including Ammonia refrigeration.
  • Completion of Industrial Refrigeration and Mechanical-Electrical courses.
  • Troubleshooting experience with control systems such as ALTA/Allen Bradley.
  • Hazmat training and certification required.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Defines and sets up operational settings for refrigeration equipment (superheat, regulators, pressure, defrost cycles).
  • Monitor system performance and optimize operation.
  • Pumps out/evacuates refrigerant for component replacement.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems to root cause and recommend actions.
  • Replace components with safe LOTO procedures per PSM.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance per OSHA standards.
  • Participate in Maintenance/Refrigeration/Energy Excellence initiatives and Americold Operating System (AOS).
  • Share knowledge and assist in training less experienced technicians.
  • Inspect work of internal and external technicians for compliance and quality.
  • Test safety equipment to ensure OSHA standards.
  • Maintain preventive/predictive maintenance records in the CMMS.
  • Keep work area 6S’d and perform housekeeping.
  • Work flexible shifts, including on-call.
  • Additional duties as required.

Job description

Under minimal supervision, work independently, performing advanced refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse. Provide maintenance support as necessary to ensure operational objectives are met. Other areas of knowledge, including but not exclusive to: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, fabrication and welding, ammonia, and plumbing. Will direct and oversee the work of contractors on occasion.

What You'll Do:
  • Defines and sets up ideal operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration equipment (i.e. superheat, regulators, pressure settings, defrost cycles, etc.)
  • Proactively monitor system performance, and take appropriate actions to ensure that the system is operating optimally.
  • Pumps out/evacuates refrigerant as necessary for component level replacement and/or repair.
  • Provides in depth troubleshooting of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems to root cause and recommends corrective action
  • Replaces components within the refrigeration's system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
  • Performs both routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.
  • Participates in Maintenance/Refrigeration/Energy Excellence implementation and sustainment of Americold Operating System (AOS).
  • Shares knowledge, and assists in the training and development of less experienced technicians
  • Inspects and reviews "in progress" and "completed" work of internal and external technicians for compliance and quality control.
  • Conducts test of safety equipment to ensure OHSA and operational standards.
  • Maintains accurate preventive and predictive maintenance records within the CMMS System.
  • Keeps work area and tools 6S'd (well maintained, clean, organized, etc.), and performs housekeeping duties as required.
  • Work flexible shifts, if required, including on call.
  • Performs related work and other job assignments as required.
Refrigeration Technician III (Finance)
Refrigeration Technician III
Primary Responsibility:

Under minimal supervision, work independently, performing advanced refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse. Provide maintenance support as necessary to ensure operational objectives are met. Other areas of knowledge, including but not exclusive to: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, fabrication and welding, ammonia, and plumbing. Will direct and oversee the work of contractors on occasion.

What You'll Do:
  • Defines and sets up ideal operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration equipment (i.e. superheat, regulators, pressure settings, defrost cycles, etc.)
  • Proactively monitor system performance, and take appropriate actions to ensure that the system is operating optimally.
  • Pumps out/evacuates refrigerant as necessary for component level replacement and/or repair.
  • Provides in depth troubleshooting of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems to root cause and recommends corrective action
  • Performs calibrations (slide valve, potentiometers, RTDs, pressure transducers, etc.)
  • Replaces components within the refrigeration's system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
  • Performs both routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.
  • Participates in Maintenance/Refrigeration/Energy Excellence implementation and sustainment of Americold Operating System (AOS).
  • Shares knowledge, and assists in the training and development of less experienced technicians
  • Inspects and reviews "in progress" and "completed" work of internal and external technicians for compliance and quality control.

Experience and Education You Need:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5+ years Industrial Refrigeration maintenance experience, which must include Ammonia refrigeration.
  • Required to successfully complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration and Mechanical-Electrical courses.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs experience with differing control systems such as ALTA/Allen Bradley etc.
  • Required to be trained in HAZMAT, obtain and maintain the certification.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System experience

Physical Requirements

Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).

Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.

Able to work in confined areas.

Able to climb ladders and stairs.

Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.

Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.

Able to operate hand and power tools safely.

Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia.)

Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam.

Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.

Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.

Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.
