Job summary

Americold is seeking a skilled refrigeration technician to perform routine maintenance and repair across the Atlanta warehouse, with safety-first practices. You will troubleshoot ammonia and other refrigerants, perform LOTO procedures, and maintain CMMS records in a fast-paced cold-storage environment.

The role requires 2+ years in industrial refrigeration maintenance, 3+ years in industrial maintenance with RETA/EPA Universal certifications, and the ability to work on-call while meeting OHSA

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED.
• 2+ years Industrial Refrigeration Maintenance experience.
• 3+ years Industrial Maintenance experience with RETA / EPA Universal certification.
• Complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration/maintenance courses.
• Troubleshooting across different control systems (ALTA/AB).
• Hazmat training and certification required.
• Experience with Oracle CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Performs operation, repair and adjustment of refrigeration system.
• Monitors system performance and determines when system is not operating correctly.
• Replaces components within the refrigeration system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.
• Performs basic pump out/evacuate refrigerant for maintenance/repair.
• Performs routine maintenance on warehouse equipment per OSHA standards.
• Tests and calibrates HVAC equipment using meters and gauges.
• Inspects work for compliance with blueprints, specs and safety standards.
• Troubleshoots equipment to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Conducts safety equipment tests to ensure OHSA and operational standards.
• Maintains preventive maintenance records in CMMS.
• Keeps work area 6S’d and performs housekeeping; on-call shifts may be required.
• Performs related work and other assignments.

Job description

Under general supervision, works independently performing routine refrigeration maintenance and repair throughout the warehouse.

What You'll Do:

• Performs operation, repair and adjustment of refrigeration system.

• Monitors system performance and determines when system is not operating correctly.

• Replaces components within the refrigeration system, with safe LOTO procedures and in accordance with PSM program.

• Performs basic pump out/evacuate refrigerant as necessary for valve replacement and/or repair.

• Performs routine maintenance on various types of warehouse equipment in accordance with OSHA Standards.

• Tests, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges. Tests and calibrates HVAC equipment.

• Inspects completed work for compliance to blueprints, specifications, and safety standards.

• Troubleshoots equipment and recommends corrective action. Individuals should understand key troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause.

• Conducts tests of safety equipment to ensure OHSA and operational standards

• Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records with the CMMS System.

• Keeps work area and tools 6S'd (well maintained, clean, organized, etc.), and performs housekeeping duties as required.

• Work flexible shifts, if required, including on call.

• Performs related work and other job assignments as required.

What Experience and Education You Need:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

• 2+ years of Industrial Refrigeration Maintenance experience

• 3+ years Industrial Maintenance experience, plus relevant industry certification (i.e. RETA, Garden City, EPA Universal etc)

• Required to successfully complete assigned Industrial Refrigeration and maintenance courses.

• Troubleshooting and repairs with differing control systems ALTA/Allen Bradley etc.

• Required to be trained in HAZMAT; obtain and maintain the certification.

• Experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

What Could Set You Apart:

• Experience working in a Cold Storage environment

• CARO and CIRO certification

• Experience using Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose down to the component level on all refrigeration equipment

Share knowledge, train and develop less experienced technicians.

Physical Requirements

Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation).

Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs.

Able to work in confined areas.

Able to climb ladders and stairs.

Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.

Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.

Able to operate hand and power tools safely.

Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia.)

Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam.

Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment.

Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.

Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks.
