Job summary

STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION offers a part-time internship (DOT INTERN - D5) in the Office of Safety, DeLand, FL. The program runs August to December 2026 with a 10-hour work week and a $15.00 per hour rate. This is a learning and mentoring opportunity to gain insight into FDOT processes, safety initiatives, and transportation systems.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or legally authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship is not available.
• Must comply with all statutes, rules, and the Department’s policies and Code of Ethics.
• Preferred: college-level student (junior, senior, graduate) seeking experience in safety.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a safe transportation system and safety initiatives.
• Gain knowledge of FDOT processes and safety programs.
• Assist with setting Target Speed on projects and identifying countermeasures.
• Engage in a learning, mentoring internship with professional development.
