Job Title: DOT Driver & Construction LaborerDepartment: Special ProjectsShift: Day ShiftLocation: Statham, GeorgiaDate Approved: July 2026Remote Work Eligible: NoDescriptionThe DOT Driver & Construction Laborer is a regular, full-time, hourly non-exempt position responsible for supporting telecommunications construction crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of communication systems infrastructure. This position assists with underground and aerial construction activities, including trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, and site restoration. The position is also responsible for safely operating Company DOT trucks and fleet vehicles to and from assigned job sites. This position is based out of the Statham, Georgia office and reports directly to the assigned Construction Foreman.The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As operational business needs require, this position may be required to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may require overnight travel to other job sites. The employee must also be able to satisfy applicable DOT English language proficiency requirements.ResponsibilitiesConstruction Labor Support:Safely operate assigned Company DOT trucks and fleet vehicles to and from assigned job sites while complying with all applicable local, state, federal, and DOT driving requirements.Complete assigned pre-trip and post-trip inspections for Company trucks and fleet vehicles and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.Perform general telecommunications construction labor tasks, including site cleanup, material handling, equipment setup, and assisting Foremen and other crew members as directed.Assist with underground construction activities, including trenching, conduit placement, cable pulling, backfilling, grading, and site restoration.Hand-dig around existing utilities and support safe excavation practices in accordance with Company procedures and job-site requirements.Support installation and placement of poles, conduit, pedestals, and related telecommunications infrastructure.Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment, and safely operate hand tools and small power tools as assigned.Teamwork & Communication:Follow direction from Foreman and crew leaders.Communicate clearly regarding job progress or concerns.Work cooperatively with crew members. Assist Linemen, Construction Laborers, and Foremen as directed.Maintain a positive and professional attitude in line with Company Values & Code of Conduct.Perform general site cleanup and material handling.Safety & Compliance:Participate in daily job hazard analysis (JHA) and tailboard meetings.Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations including wearing of required personal protection equipment (“PPE”) at all times.Identify and report hazards immediately.As directed, assist with traffic control and job site safety setup.Represent the Company professionally while on the road and at job sites.Perform other duties as assigned.C. Position RequirementsFormal Education & Certification:Completion of a High School Diploma or attainment of a General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D).Valid Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) license with no restrictions and a clean driving record.As a condition of employment, must be able to pass DOT English proficiency exam.Knowledge & Experience:1-2 years’ experience in construction or utility experience preferred. Or comparable work experience in a similar industry.Qualifications & Characteristics:Ability to pass both pre-hire and ongoing DOT physical & drug screenings.Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment (“PPE”).Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds without an accommodation.Ability to climb in and out of delivery vehicles & safely operate for up to a 10-hour shift.Ability to stand, walk, and work in warehouse, yard and outdoors job-sites for up to a 12-hour shift.Ability to safely operate Company trucks and fleet vehicles for extended periods, including driving for two to three hours at a time, as operational needs require.Work Environment:Able to work in a warehouse, material yard and outdoor job-site environments under varied weather conditions that include humidity & seasonal temperature changes.Equal Employment Opportunity: Cable-East, Inc.
