Position: DOT Driver

Total Safety is seeking a DOT Driver to join their safety-conscious team. The DOT Driver operates a commercial truck and various trailers to transport equipment and supplies to and from job sites and customer locations. The role includes cross-training in air work, gas detection, and rescue services, and requires compliance with current DOT regulations.

Essential Duties:
  1. Follow safety and operational checklists for each trailer type and complete all required documentation.
  2. Ensure timely delivery and pickup at designated locations.
  3. Inspect equipment for damage or wear during pickup and note findings.
  4. Comply with DOT regulations, including qualification renewals, security inspections, electronic logging, and documentation.
  5. Complete delivery and pickup documentation accurately and obtain customer signatures.
  6. Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicles and trailers.
  7. Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and ad-hoc inspections as per FMCSR regulations.
  8. Perform weekly inspections on non-DOT trucks and trailers for safety and maintenance compliance.
  9. Assist in facility operations, including stocking supplies and loading customer orders.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  11. Service electronics and respiratory equipment as needed.
  12. Assist colleagues and perform emergency roadside repairs if necessary.
Skills and Experience:
  • At least 12 months of verifiable DOT driving experience within the last three years.
  • Valid DOT medical examiner’s certificate with at least 3 months before expiration.
  • Insurable for company vehicle insurance.
  • Satisfactory driving record per FMCSR and company policies.
  • Manufacturer field-level training and certification in respiratory and instrumentation.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class A, B, or C) with HAZMAT endorsement.
  • Ability to pass forklift training and certification.
Working Environment:

Work may occur in shop, yard, traffic, and customer environments. Conditions may include wet, humid weather, vibration, shop traffic, chemicals, and road debris. The environment usually has moderate noise levels.
