Job summary

Jobtailor in Miami, FL seeks a Dosimetry Support Technician to assist the external beam treatment planning process under supervision. You will acquire and transmit patient data, including CT simulations and prior records, perform DICOM registrations and fusions, and contour patient anatomy for planning.

The role requires a high school diploma, familiarity with radiologic concepts, and comfort with Microsoft Office; experience with EMR/Oncology IT systems is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Experience with radiologic tech concepts is a plus but not required.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook/Excel/Word.
  • Familiarity with EMR and Oncology IT systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support during external beam treatment planning under supervision.
  • Acquire and transmit CT simulation and other patient data.
  • Perform DICOM registrations and fusions.
  • Contour patient anatomy for planning purposes.
  • Assist in treatment clearance checks in radiation therapy rooms.
  • Monitor and update departmental whiteboards and care paths.
  • Import patient files into EMR/Oncology information systems.
  • Manage departmental calendars and attend meetings.
  • Prepare meetings and launch virtual rooms (Zoom) for presentations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Dosimetry Supervisors.

Job description

  • Provide support throughout the external beam treatment planning process under the direction of the Dosimetry Supervisor and general supervision of Medical Dosimetry staff
  • Acquire and transmit patient-related data, including CT simulation datasets, diagnostic imaging datasets, and prior radiation treatment records
  • Perform DICOM dataset registrations and fusions
  • Contour patient anatomy for use in treatment planning
  • Assist in treatment clearance checks in Radiation Therapy rooms
  • Monitor and update departmental whiteboards and care paths for timely completion of Dosimetry tasks
  • Import patient-related files into patient-specific Electronic Medical Record systems and Oncology Information Systems
  • Manage departmental calendars as directed by Dosimetry Supervisors
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Prepare and organize select departmental meetings, including launching virtual meeting rooms in Zoom and loading cases for presentation
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Dosimetry Supervisors
Requirements
  • Valid high school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Radiologic Technologist is preferred but not required
  • Associates and higher level degrees are preferred
  • Direct experience in Dosimetry, X-Ray Technology, Radiologic Technology, and other related fields is desired but not required
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
  • Comfortable with computers and adept at learning new programs and software
  • Support and adherence to BHSF safety and compliance programs including OSHA, HIPAA, and the Code of Ethics

Demonstrates proficiency in patient data management, including DICOM dataset registrations and fusions, while supporting the external beam treatment planning process. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy is essential for effective collaboration in a medical dosimetry environment.
