Job summary

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is seeking a Dosimetrist to join the Radiology team. You will design treatment plans, perform dose calculations, and coordinate with the Medical Physicist to ensure accurate delivery of prescribed doses.

The role requires CMD certification within 6 months, a degree in Radiologic Technology, and a minimum of three years’ experience in dosimetry. The position supports professional development and a strong patient‑centered approach.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduated from accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
• Licenses/Certifications: CMD certification within 6 months; ARRT (T) Radiation Therapy Registry preferred.
• Minimum Work Experience: 3 years as Medical Dosimetrist (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Devises a treatment plan by computer and/or manual calculation to deliver prescribed dose.
• Performs dose calculations and ensures complete, accurate chart recording.
• Instructs technical staff in implementation of the treatment plan.
• Assists in planning compensating filters, shields, wedges, blocks, and other beam modifying devices with the Medical Physicist.
• Assists in selection/evaluation of purchase requests involving radioactive materials or radiation-producing equipment.

How you'll contribute

A Dosimetrist who excels in this role:

• Devises a treatment plan by means of computer and/or manual computation that will deliver the prescribed dose to a defined tumor volume in collaboration with the medical physicist.

• Performs dose calculations and assures complete, accurate, and timely recording of all data on all charts and forms.

• Instructs the technical staff in the implementation of the treatment plan.

• Assists in planning of compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, blocks, and other beam modifying devices in collaboration with the Medical Physicist.

• Assists in the selection and evaluation of purchase requests involving radioactive materials or radiation producing equipment.
