Job summary

The State of Florida, Division of Library and Information Services, Bureau of Library Development, is seeking a qualified professional to manage the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant program and related grant initiatives in the Bureau.

Responsibilities include overseeing grant applications, reviews, program administration, and reporting; coordinating with internal teams to support State Aid and Library Construction programs; and keeping current on grants management practices

Qualifications

  • Six years direct professional experience; master’s degree may substitute for experience.
  • Experience using personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheet or database software.
  • Ability to learn and use grants management software and database.
  • Three years of in-depth experience writing, planning, implementing or evaluating applications, projects or contracts.
  • Detail oriented, with evidence of record keeping in managing applications, projects or contracts.

  • Manages the Library Cooperative Grant (LCG) program: grant application and review, administration and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six years direct professional experience. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required years of experience.
  • Experience using personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheet or database software.
  • An ability to learn and use grants management software and database.
  • Three years of in-depth experience writing, planning, implementing or evaluating applications, projects or contracts.
  • Detail oriented, with demonstrated evidence of record keeping associated with managing applications, projects or contracts.
Preferences:
  • Master's degree in accounting, business administration, nonprofit management, nonprofit management with a concentration in grants or financial management, public administration, or library or information science from an accredited program.
  • Experience in writing, planning, implementing, administering or evaluating a state or federal pass-through grant program.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles, practices and policies of public or academic libraries or a related organization.
  • Experience in administering, planning, implementing and evaluating a state or federal pass-through grant program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to grant application and review processes, program administration, preparation of reports and other information as required for the program. Work carries out the Division’s LSTA Five-Year Plan.
  • Manages the Library Cooperative Grant (LCG) program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to grant application and review processes, program administration, and preparation of reports and other information as required for the LCG program.
  • Supports administration of the State Aid and Library Construction grant programs in the Bureau. Requires familiarity with their program policies, procedures, and issues, and an ability to provide basic grant information about these programs upon request.
  • Updates professional knowledge and skills related to grants and contract management through online and in-person training opportunities. Maximizes use of all available modes of communication to share information, knowledge and skills related to grants with colleagues and customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
