Job description

The Donor Stewardship Specialist is an integral part of The Advancement Team at Minnesota PBS, working to support retention and growth among individual and institutional donors through timely, accurate and meaningful stewardship touchpoints.

Compensation: $60,000 to $65,000 annually in addition to company provided benefits.

Hybrid Work Environment: Candidates must live in or be willing torelocateto the Twin Cities Metro area and report toonsiteoffice a minimum of three days per week.

Working under the supervision of the Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving, this position has three primary responsibilities:

  • Help drive retention and growth of mid-level donors giving $1,000 - $4,999 through stewardship and direct donor outreach,
  • Curate and distribute station and programmatic updates for use in stewardship communications across the Advancement division, and
  • Ensure compliance to grant requirements and donor stewardship standards by ensuring timely and accurate recognition.

This role ensures both individual and institutional supporters feel valued and connected to the station's mission and receive appropriate recognition as promised in grants and donor benefits. The role supports gift officers working with individual and institutional donors, while building relationships across the organization to curate station updates for distribution to members and supporters.

Donor Outreach and Stewardship (25% of time)
  • Help develop and implement meaningful donor stewardship touchpoints for Studio Society donors ($1,200 - $4,999) and members giving between $1,000 - $1,199. Personally thank donors for new gifts via phone, email or personal note.
  • Retrieve and respond to or distribute messages on the Giving Team inbox and phone line. Manage event RSVPs as assigned.
  • Assist in distributing quarterly Welcome Surveys via mail and email; record responses and distribute for follow up.
Curate and Manage Stewardship Touchpoints (60% of time)
  • Build relationships with Content Production teams, Center for Lifelong Learning staff, Marketing Communications staff, and others across Minnesota PBS for the purpose of curating updates on upcoming events, premieres, awards etc. Develop a library of stewardship updates by writing news notes and delivering them to Advancement colleagues on a monthly basis.
  • Manage and update annual Stewardship Communication Plan listing all mass touchpoints for major donors, institutional giving partners and the wider Membership base as appropriate. Coordinate with Marketing and Communications, Gift Officers, Institutional Giving Team, and Membership team to deliver these touchpoints.
  • Maintain and update donor literature including the quarterly donor newsletter (print and electronic), monthly impact reports/news notes, seasonal stewardship initiatives (holiday cards, Report to Community) and the major giving section of the Minnesota PBS website. Ensure messaging reflects donor interests and organizational priorities.
  • Assist in developing a segmented digital stewardship strategy to ensure consistent and meaningful communications to select donor groups. Generate communications using email marketing software and coordinate among key team contacts for review and approval.
  • Work with Revenue Operations to review and refresh acknowledgement letters, leadership notes, and pledge reminders.
  • Maintain and update inventory of donor gifts such as books, mugs, magnets, etc., that are current and popular with donors.
  • Lead coordination of event invite workflow, managing the version from initial list pull through final delivery to Marketing and Communications in advance of events. Ensure that final event invitations and attendance are uploaded to CRM. Assist team in implementing event follow-up with donors and documenting in CRM.
Manage Compliance and Processes (10% of time)
  • Lead coordination of collecting accurate donor/funder recognition lists for publication in show credits, on air, Report to Community, atrium display, member magazine, and any other published lists.
  • Assist Chief Advancement Officer, Revenue Operations, Institutional Advancement, and Finance in monitoring the tracking and spending of restricted revenue (grants and individual gifts) in accordance with donor intent.
Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain and update donor information in CRM for individual and institutional donors.
  • Participate as an active member of the Advancement Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • 2 to 3 years previous experience in mid-level fundraising and /or donor stewardship role.
  • Experience working with individual and institutional giving teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in similar or like organization (i.e., Public Media, Non Profit, etc).
  • Foundation in multiple constituencies.
  • Demonstrated strong internal service or internal customer orientation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to devise and execute strategies and team plans with minimal oversight and to drive execution with team peers across boundaries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with peers and donors.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to produce products from start to finish effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with CRM systems (databases) and experience/aptitude to work with complex operational systems.
  • Experience developing and executing email marketing products and campaigns.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrate initiative and be a strong team player.
  • Experience in public media fundraising and/or digital creative skills highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, the Adobe Creative Suite.
