Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a Donor Relations Specialist in Philadelphia to lead a robust Mid-Level donor program across EPA/Delaware. You will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors while aligning with major gifts and gift planning strategies.

You will work with THQ marketing and the donor database to craft strategic cultivation plans, engage with donors through visits, and collaborate with field leadership to meet fundraising goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising Management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with donor tracking and CRM software required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of a Mid-Level donor relations program for EPA/Delaware Division.

Position: Donor Relations Specialist
Department: Community Relations & Development
Availability of Position: Immediate
Schedule: Full-Time 40 hrs/week
Reporting Relationship: Director of Major Gifts
Salary and Grade: $62,400-$65,000, depending on education and experience; 13 Exempt

Responsibilities

The Donor Relations Specialist (DRS) will lead the design and implementation of a strong Mid-Level donor relations program for the EPA/Delaware Division with a special emphasis on geographical areas served by Service Extension Units. This role will develop a comprehensive action plan in managing their Mid-Level donor portfolio to identify and qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors who are defined as Mid-Level with a goal of retaining and upgrading their gifts as well as consideration of transitioning donors to Major Gifts or Gift Planning portfolios. This position will also work in tandem with the THQ direct mail and marketing program and database to determine a strategic plan of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for Mid-Level donors identified through those channels. There is a working relationship with the THQ Associate Director of Major Gifts who provides strategic oversight and support on portfolio management and goal setting. This will involve engagement by strategic communications through all mediums and personalization of outreach, including virtual or in-person donor visits as needed. This position will determine appropriate and meaningful Mid-Level donor annual fundraising and marketing strategies and will work collaboratively with territorial, divisional, and local marketing leadership to ensure that The Salvation Army’s mission and fundraising objectives are met and/or exceeded. Direct marketing practices will be leveraged with major and gift planning components and approaches as an enhanced form of direct marketing to raise revenue but to also cultivate and nurture strong bonds and relationships with The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university or related work experience or specialized training in Fundraising Management. 2-4 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, management or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be extremely organized and able to manage a busy schedule of stewardship activities in a timely manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as experience with donor tracking and/or database software required. Knowledge of CRM, Salesforce, software is preferable (otherwise must be trained). Must have very strong analytical skills, able to analyze data and develop targeted fundraising strategies to segmented groups based on research. Enthusiastic collaboration with multiple fundraisers and teammates is essential. Must have strong communications skills, willingness to travel regularly, and a valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle required. Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks prior to employment: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check along with renewals every five years. M ust have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
